Play FreeCell Solitaire Online
FreeCell is a classic solitaire card game built around planning, open information and careful use of temporary storage. All 52 cards are visible from the beginning, spread across eight tableau columns.
Your goal is to move every card to the four foundations, building each suit from Ace through King. The four free cells can each hold one card and are the key to opening blocked columns and creating longer moves.
FreeCell Rules
Tableau cards build downward in alternating colors. A red card can be placed on the next higher black card, and a black card can be placed on the next higher red card. Empty tableau columns can accept cards, while each free cell can hold only one card.
Foundations build upward by suit, beginning with the Ace. The number of cards you can move together depends on how many free cells and empty tableau columns are available.
FreeCell Strategy
Avoid filling all four free cells too early. Empty cells and empty tableau columns increase your ability to reorganize longer card sequences. Look for opportunities to expose low cards and move Aces and Twos toward their foundations.
Because every card is visible, FreeCell rewards planning ahead. Before using a free cell, consider whether the move opens a useful card or creates enough space for the next sequence.
FreeCell FAQ
How do you play FreeCell?
Move cards between the eight tableau columns in descending order with alternating colors. Use the four free cells as temporary storage and build each foundation from Ace to King by suit.
Can any card move to an empty column?
Yes. Unlike Klondike Solitaire, any available card or legal sequence can be moved to an empty tableau column, subject to the number of free cells and empty columns available.
What are the four free cells for?
Each free cell can temporarily hold one card. Keeping free cells available gives you more flexibility and lets you move longer sequences between tableau columns.
How do you win FreeCell?
Move all 52 cards to the four foundations. Each foundation starts with an Ace and builds upward by suit until the King.
Is FreeCell free on 4ZILLA?
Yes. You can play FreeCell directly in your browser for free with no download required.
