How to Play Minesweeper
Minesweeper is a logic puzzle where you uncover squares without triggering hidden mines. A revealed number tells you how many mines touch that square, including diagonally. Use those clues to decide which squares are safe and which should be flagged.
- Choose Beginner, Intermediate or Expert difficulty.
- Reveal your first square. The first move is always safe.
- Read the numbers to locate neighboring mines.
- Right-click to place flags, or use Flag mode on mobile.
- Reveal every square without a mine to win.
Minesweeper Difficulty Levels
Beginner has 81 squares and 10 mines. Intermediate expands to 256 squares with 40 mines. Expert uses a 30-by-16 grid containing 99 mines. Start with Beginner to learn the number patterns, then move up as your deduction skills improve.
Minesweeper Tips
If a square marked 1 has only one unopened neighbor, that neighbor must contain a mine. If the required number of adjacent mines has already been flagged, the other neighboring squares are safe. Focus on these certain moves before taking a guess.
